Time for Two

She went into early labor yesterday. At her doctors appt she was 4 - 5 cm and fully effaced. I'm getting ready to leave to go down to meet her. Next update will be in approx 3 hrs. Maybe including photos of my new child. Wish her luck!

TGIF, everybody! Thanks for all the super kind comments yesterday! I loved hearing from all of you. I'm trying to get Normy and I around to go visit his Grandpa & Grandma W. Just as soon as I get my sock drawer back in order... Have a great weekend!

Full Moon and No Baby

Well, yesterday I was "exactly" 39 weeks pregnant, and I had hoped that with the full moon and the lunar eclipse that maybe I'd go in to labor. Oh well. New Baby isn't done cooking. New Baby has missed his/her chance to be an Aquarius like his/her mama. I had thought it might be cool if New Baby is a girl that she could be an Aquarius and a February baby like me. Especially because both my Jacobs are June babies and Geminis. I don't even believe in Astrology though, so I'm not in mourning or anything.

I wonder if there is a pregnant mama out there this far along who isn't consumed with the question of "when?" When? When? When??? I'm not sick of being pregnant or anything. I actually LOVE it. I love belly and the squirmy feeling of the baby moving around inside. I am not uncomfortable, I haven't become swollen, I generally feel cute and petable.

I won't lie though, deep down I'm pretty freaked out about the prospect of another marathon labor. I just keep praying that even if this labor develops a similar pattern to Normy's that I'll have a better attitude about it. I'm sure it will be just fine. I think we are all pretty much set up for success.

So to recap for those of you out of the loop; because Smoochy and I didn't feel 100% comfortable with the very limited attended homebirth options in Omaha. So, we decided that the best choice for us was/is the Birth and Woman’s Center here in Topeka, KS. Smoochy's family lives here so we are supported by family from all sides. That was a major factor in our decision. This Monday past I drove down to Topeka with Normy and Jack the Dog to settle in and get comfortable.

I'm staying with Jacob's mom who has gone all out for our comfort. She has transformed her formal living room into a lovely bedroom for me complete with bed, night stand, and vanity. It is BEAUTIFUL. It all looks like something out of a Southern Living magazine. Plus, you can't beat having a fire place in your bedroom!

The hardest part of this situation is the fact that Smoochy and are separated yet again. Because of the new position he has recently taken on for his employer he was not able to work out of Kansas City as I had hoped he'd be able to during this time. On the heals of him working Monday through Friday in Washington D.C. for four weeks, all I can say is this really sucks. He is making a big sacrifice for us so that we can have this birth here. I know being away from us is lonely... not to mention bad for his health. After working 12 hour days at a new and demanding position he comes home and has Doritos and whiskey & coke for dinner. He need his wifey to keep him eating veggies!!!

However, as much as I desperately miss seeing my hubby every day, I am not really worried about him missing my labor or the birth. I feel like in all probability he will have PLENTY of time to make the three hour drive from Omaha to Topeka. Even if this labor is only half as long as the last he will still enjoy over twenty hours of back rubbing, whispering words of encouragement, and slow dancing to coax our baby out. Plus, with the rest of his family, OUR family, here I won't have to be alone while I wait for him to arrive.

So there you have it. We are all set up for our birth center birth. We're just waiting for the show to start at this point. It could be tonight or any other day in the next three weeks. Yikes! What a spread!

The Picture of Health

Look! He's all better! Thank goodness for antibiotics. SOMETIMES they really are useful! There are a ton of other pictures I wanted to post, but they are all back on my computer in Omaha and I am now in Topeka settling in for New Baby's arrival. Normy and I drove here yesterday. It's all finally happening! I won't be back home until I have TWO children!

I really did want to post about how FANTASIC my birthday week was back in the beginning of the month. My best friend in the whole world (Angie) came to visit me for a week with her adorable 10 month old son, Mikey. We had an absolute blast all week. She pampered me and spoiled me rotten! She took me out for a birthday dinner, followed by cake and hot tea. She gave me a lovely gift and flowers. But, most amazingly she was just here to be with me. I know first hand how much fun flying with a not-quite-toddler can be. I'm so grateful she made the trip and made me feel like a princess all week! Thank you, Angie. Actually, if you want to see some pictures you can over at her blog: Tropical Smoochie.

The day Angie left Omaha Chuck and Tracy (Smoochy's dad and step-mom) came for the weekend. It was a wonderful time...and I had pictures to share of that visit as well. It was your typical weekend with Smoochy's family. Great food, great company, and great conversation. Maybe when I get back home I'll update this post with the missing photos.

So, that's about as much time as I have to blog for now. I want to unpack, plan tonight's dinner, and maybe take a nap myself. Normy has already been asleep for an hour so I better get on it. He will be awake in no time!

Hopefully I'll have more pictures to share soon!

Sorry It's been so long...

I know, It's been a long time. But we've been dealing with this...

Yikes! Pretty frightening isn't it?! This is how poor Normy woke up two mornings ago. However, I am happy to report after lots of fluids, antibiotics, and lovin' he is doing MUCH MUCH better. He had/has a sinus infection that spread in less than a week to his eyes and ears. YUCKY!

OK, let's play catch up. The he Smoochy family spent the last week in January in Washington D.C.. The last four weeks in a row Smoochy has worked there Monday through Friday. It was pretty tough on all of us. (Except for this one week we were able to go with him!) But, those days are behind us for good. His assignment has changed from business development to managing the sub-contractors here at a local project. This does mean much longer hours and no more trips home for lunch, but at least he won't be traveling. AND the best thing is it means we won't be moving again for at least an other year or so! Yipeee!!!! Anyway, here are some cute pictures from D.C.

Normy at the Capitol

Room Service!

Home at last... one exhausted boy. We got stuck in Chicago with bad weather. Never a good time.

Crapski! Norm just woke up from his nap. I'll have to play catch up a little later. Right now my boy needs some lunch!

PS- Blogger is sucking lately. It takes FOREVER to load pictures! What's the deal?
