Finding out she was only ~ 1cm really crushed her spirits. She would tell you she became a little depressed after that. The midwife has left, to be called later when things get closer. This is all such a bummer, albeit completely expected and understandable. You see, she was having the kind of contractions that they tell you to call your midwife or to go to the hospital... 1 min duration, 5 min apart. However her cervix wasn't ready to play ball yet. I guess he's waiting on contract negotiations.
Anyway, after the midwife left we decided to go on a walk again to get her mind off of not being very far along and the amount of pain she was in. Before we left she went to the bathroom (which I hear is excellent, we've been forcing water upon her) and lost her mucus plug. This was a most needed moral booster, a definite step in the right direction and a perfect lead in for our walk and pep talks.
She is now on the couch trying to relax and maybe get a little shut eye in-between contractions. She has been up since 1AM this morning!
All your comments are awesome, you guys are excellent. When things slow down, I take the laptop and read them to her. She loves/needs them. You mothers know how that is. Anyway, for that I thank you.

oh becca, you have so much support in KS. I hope knowing that you have tons of support will help. We have your blog on our computer and refreshing constantly(or at least i am). I love you and i hope you and Jacob have a happy and wonderful birth!!!! Much love from KS-------betsy
Some people choose running with the bulls, others chose to go cliff diving, Becca, you chose to have a natural child birth.
I can only imagine the discomfort you must be conquering tonight. We are thinking about you guys. My mom and wife have been checking in to 'read' how you are doing all day.
They have a better feeling for what you are going to have to do. And Jacob, I'm more intimate with your situation, but personally I'd rather run with the bulls in Spain.
It's late here and I'm sure you're both exhausted...I know I am! I know it's almost impossible, but try to get some sleep if you can. Hopefully, we'll get a call during the night, but if not, will check here in the morning. Love you guys! Just remember....the end result is a beautiful baby! Sharon & Charlie
Just hang in there, all this work your body is doing IS doing something, Rebecca, you ARE getting closer.
Your labor sounds a lot like all 3 of mine. It took me forever -- like 24 hours -- to get to 5 cm, but once I was there, whoosh, all over within an hour, pushing and all.
I truly understand how very, very frustrated you must be feeling right now. Check with your midwife -- maybe you can take a Tylenol PM to at least try to get a little sleep before the big work starts.
I'm going to be getting online first thing in the morning tomorrow before going to work to check up on you guys.
Be strong, you big courageous woman you. That baby will come. And someday you will tell him this story, and someday when he's old enough, he'll be proud.
Well, I am off to bed and will be thinking of you guys as I lay down. This will be my first stop in the morning. She is blessed to have you by her side:)
I came here through Veronica's blog. Just this afternoon I was reminiscing with my family about being in labor today with Girlkiddo--8 years ago! Every woman has her own special birthing story. Good luck as yours unfolds.
Just remember, you are stronger than you could ever imagine! God bless you and your little one tonight!
You are doing so great - this really is the hard part, and even though it doesn't all feel like it's doing much, it all is. Well done, and can't wait for the next update!
Sending you lots of positive labour vibes!!
As a Mother of 5, I can truly say I know your pain. Hang in there Becca and believe it or not, your memory of all of this will fade quickly when you finally hold his little sweetness in your tired arms! You are in my constant thoughts and prayers today.love,A tracy & U pat,& all the 5 kids!
You can do this Becca. This is the hardest part. Focus on the goal. I know that it doens't help to say that, but know that you have alot of people pulling for you, and keeping you in our prayers. You are almost there. I'm so very proud of you. You two are going to make the very best parents a child could ever hope for.
