All Boy

I don't think I truly anticipated how much work it would be to keep up with a toddler...and Normy is still mostly crawling. But, I can't turn my attention for a second or I'll hear the clomp-clomp-clop of little knees on wooden stairs...

And it's not just a few stairs...

It's a whole mess of stairs! And he's not nearly as proficient coming down as going up. It is true that little boys have no fear. At least this one doesn't yet. If I let my guard down for even a moment...

Here at least he is sitting down. Usually once he makes it to the top of the step ladder it is to attempt to open the cabinets just like Mommy. If I'm not careful he'll get to the top, hang on with one hand, and get on his tip-toes trying for the handles!

And since when did my sweet little boy get so insistent and demanding? Heaven forbid I fold the stool and tuck it away. That provokes a real tears! But his favorite place to cause trouble is under the kitchen island.

However, this seems so harmless compared to all the other climbing and scaling that I usually let him knock himself out under there.

Normy finds simple pleasure under the island, I find joy on top of it...

Anyway, Mommy needs a coffee or three to keep up.

That's it, Normy. Please just stay busy with your trucks!

I know this sounds really stupid, but...enjoy this time. It's hard, I know. Diminutive One used to be hell on wheels (he still is, just in a different way) but now that my boys are growing more independant every day, I find myself wondering what the hell to do with my days. Though I don't think I would go back to those days, I do honestly miss them.

As always, Normy makes me want to grab his face and smooch him to death. He gets cuter every day!

Hehe I know how you feel! Mine is still desperately trying to keep up with her big sister.. I keep finding her on top of the dining table.. and the other day, she dragged a chair over to the tv and had climbed up and was busy throwing things behind it! ARGH! It does drive you a bit nuts having to constantly check where they are and what they are up to, but I still love that look on their face when they are caught.. a mix of triumph with a little bit of 'oh shit'. Too funny. Normy is gorgeous, and what a clever boy. I LOVE your red kitchen whizz thing, gorgeous!

Tell me about it! Jack is soo busy...much more interested in EVERYTHING than Chloe was. I've had to put the bar stools in the garage to keep him from climbing onto the island. Turn your back for one second and they are into some kind of trouble!! He recently fell off of a small wagon onto the floor face first and put a hole in his lip, fell off his rocking horse and busted his head up pretty good then dropped the same horse on his toe and has a huge blood blister on it! All in ONE day! Crazy....but so much joy!

Adorable...and fearless! Our house is all one level and I am thankful for that. Though Baby E is very cautious, so who knows how much trouble she'd even get into.

I have that same recipe book holder. I love it. But it is always hidden behind five zillion recipes and coupons and assorted crap.

Becca! Normy is a cutie PIE! I can't believe what he can do these days. Seneca is up standing but hasn't taken any steps yet...but I'm sure it's just around the corner. Luckily, we don't have any stairs, but there's still plenty she can get into. We miss you guys!! Hugs to you all. -Suzanne

oh, it's not just the boys. we have a complete and total monkey on our hands here, too. but, whipped cream on the coffee, you say? that might make the day go smoothly for sure! I'll have to give that a try this weekend...

what a cutie you have! I found your site via Noa. I noticed you talked about Omaha, are you living in Nebraska? I am from Nebraska myself!

Noa is the same way! I thought having a girl meant that I would be spared the fearless climbing but NO! This girl is up and down the stairs, hanging off the edge of the bed. Sheesh. And the tears when she is prevented from risking life and limb!

Congrats on the pregnancy! ENJOY.
