Yesterday it snowed and snowed and snowed. From the moment it was light enough to see, till the moment dusk started obscuring things there was a steady stream of snow. At some points it came down in big chunky clumps and later it was finer and sparkling but regardless, it fell all through the day. Early on it was obvious we would all be home-bound. Smoochy's office was closed, Normy's preschool was closed, and (sadly) our play-date was canceled. We found ourself all around the second-breakfast table at 8:30 snacking and making plans for the day... The kids wanted to play in the snow; Smoochy wanted to watch a Band of Brothers for as many hours as possible; and I wanted to hole-up in my craft room and tackle one of the many projects orbiting my brain. We all got our way. It was the perfect day. The lazy pace, family togetherness (Smoochy didn't really watch THAT much TV), and free-form to our day was delicious. I got so much done. I feel refreshed and caught up from the holidays AT LAST!
So today I thought I'd reflect on what I liked BEST about snow days.
Having time and freedom to get caught up. Thanks in large part to Smoochy playing with Lola.
Starting new projects...
Having time and energy to be creative at lunch...
(This was a FAIL by the way. Too much tamari.)
With the help of my favorite people.
(Seen here ACTUALLY EATING VEGGIES!!!)
Can you hear Georgia? "NO pictures, Mommy!"
Having Smoochy home to share the whole day with.
(And that the kids got to go outside while I stayed in and manned the hot coco station.)
And of course, I love the view.
And do you know what my absolute FAVORITE thing about snow days is? They often come in pairs! Normy's school is canceled again. Let the good times roll!
