Monday Again

I have been blogging since the end of 2005… yet never in all that time have I maintained any sort of consistency with it. Now I have an informal pact with myself to write a little, share a little, here five days a week. I’ve only just started, but it feels really nice. What I find interesting is how things change or don’t change from week to week.

Here it is Monday morning and once again I want to reflect on what the weekend held. Back when Georgia was a baby and Smoochy was working 70-hour weeks the only thing I felt like blogging about was the weekends because the weekends were the only time that felt like living.  This past weekend Smoochy had to work outside of the home for most of Saturday and was hardly here when he was home Sunday. (He wasn't neglectful, just busy). The result was a weekend that felt much more like a couple of weekdays.

What I also find interesting is how agonizingly slow the progress is on my 55 square foot bathroom. If it takes me three weeks to pain this dinky room how long is it going to take me to paint the rest of the 2450 square feet in this house? (Dude, the Midwest is the place to live as far as cost-of-living!)

There wasn’t much making this weekend, although I did whip out Normy’s apron. He was thrilled about it, but wishes I had sewed him a fish instead. Don’t ask me why a fish… Although if I had to guess I’d say it has to do with the fact that the material I used to make Georgie’s apron is the same thrifted bed sheet I used to make him a prototype of the magnetic fish he was given for his birthday. (In the end my parents made both the polls and the fish. No doubt some of his favorite toys.) So, I guess my next project will be a fish.

Without question, my favorite part of the weekend was naptime on Sunday. We take naps seriously in this house. I opted out in order to get caught-up on laundry, do a little baking, and a little cleaning. I didn’t feel as rested as my troops, but it was refreshing to start the week with baked goods for breakfast, closets full of laundered clothes, and a clean slate.

I give you more pictures of my sleeping Smoochys:

So that’s it. Happy Monday to you. How did you spend your weekend? (As if I didn’t know thanks to Facebook!)

I love it. How did I spend my weekend? Up in Tahoe with lots of girlfriends. Can you believe I survived with my awful cold?! I currently have the biggest bags under my eyes and could sleep 12 hours straight, but must get my lesson plan ready for tomorrow evening. I came home as happy and giddy as a teenager. My husband on the other hand, said it's too difficult to work with two boys in tow and was frustrated that Lucas doesn't take naps anymore. Ahhh, welcome to our world, right Becca. This was only after 52 hours:) Love ya and great job mama.
